Is this normal? I just turned on my porch light out the back door and threw out some crackers for the wild birds and one of my Roosters started crowing? Hello, does he think it's morning because of the light? Is this normal, I heard a dog barking out behind the woods could the roo think they are in danger?
Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks

Oh good, I was afraid there was a critter out there maybe trying to get into their house and he was letting me know. Hopefully that's still not the case.

My 11 week old just started with the crowing. He only crows in the late afternoon. I figure he's just not a morning person. I never really feel like crowing in the morning either.

Mine will crow anytime a light is turned on. I had a group of them once that would crow anytime someone turned down the street with their highbeams lit. Same group would crow anytime I turned on the bathroom light in the middle of the night, which is on the same side of the house as the coop. So at least in my experience their urge to crow can be triggered by being in the dark and then lit up.

Our rooster crows at all hours of the day and night. We've been out in our hot tub well past midnight and heard him start up for no apparent reason. He also enjoys crowing in the morning, afternoon, evening, and sometimes-- when the mood strikes him just right-- at dawn.

Nothing to worry about
