My rooster just crowed at 10:15pm?

I'm still waiting for my 12 week old Columbian Rock to start crowing.

That will be the signal that it's time to make him into dinner.

ROFLL~ mohonri coriantumr ~ that's just what happened to our 2 roo's ~ and they were quite tasty, too. It wasn't as hard as all the you-tube vids make it look, either ~ just make sure you hold them head down for a few minutes before, & then hold them down after you do the deed, they won't spurt much, and only flap mildly. Also, I reccomend having the boiling pot of water outside, not inside, as it lets off a certain snasty scent when you dip fresh chicken into the water.

My SS roo crows at night when anyone walks in the coop. If I hear him crow at night I go out to the coop. My SF roo sounded the alarm instead. I dunno- maybe different calls for different roos?

Roosters crow whenever they feel like it.

When I first got chickens, I didn't realize this and was completely surprised.

If one of my roosters hears me on the phone, he starts to crow. If he sees me across the yard, he starts to crow. If I've been in the coop and start to walk away, he starts to crow. It doesn't matter what time it is.

I think it's sweet.

His name is Henry. If he's loose in the yard and he sees me come out of the house, he comes running up the path. One of these days I'll make a video and post it. It's hilarious to see him running his fat little body across the yard.

I got my Roo at a different time than my girls and kept him seperated for a little over a month, he started trying to crow a little until I put him in with the girls then he quit
