Never fight with a rooster, never use a broom or a stick, and never offer a shove with a foot, that just tells him you are up to fight with him on his level. I never show fear and I walk with purpose in the coop, I never turn my back on a rooster, but if one gets near me I pick him up and carry him around. Soon they realize if they don't want to get carried they avoid me or come to be picked up.
