I was holding my cockerel that is about 14 weeks old now, sideways in my lap. He had his head against my shoulder, and I hugged him against my chest. Then I heard a funny high-pitched shriek-like noise. It wasn't loud, but very soft. Then I felt a vibration in his breast bone, under my hand. Then it became audible, and sounded just like a purr! Such as a cat would do, but louder. He kept doing it. He likes to cuddle but this is the first time he's done this. He did it many times in half an hour. Anyone else have a cockerel or rooster who does this?
