My rooster won't eat or drink after a bad fight. Please help!

OMG I haven't a clue coch, I don't know if I could do that myself! your so much stronger with that stuff than me for sure! then don't do that if he has open sores on them. what that does is it opens their mouth wide and when you put the stuff in their mouth and let go, it lets them naturally swallow avoiding that windpipe issue when force feeding. that's how I give meds if needed, or olive oil for sour crop, and Epsom salt for vent gleet.

His wattles are full of bloody scabs...  I could post a picture, but I don't think that'd it help the "eating and drinking" problem.

If I do try to use a feeding tube, what should I put in it? His normal food softened with water?

Start with just Pedialyte at 30ml/kg every 6-8 hours. Once he is hydrated, add baby bird food to the Pedialyte.

I have raised wild baby birds on baby food for human babies so you could try that too..some veggies some meats...

I've read in a few places that Gatorade is just as effective in rehydrating. (I do not know if this is true)

Should I dilute the Gatorade, or give it to him as is.

I don't think that true (too much sugar), if it were, people would use it for their infants instead of Pedialyte. How much are you getting into him?

Our pediatrician has always told us to get gatorade and just water it down 1/4 when my babies were sick, he says its all hype like nursery water...That pedialyte and gatorade have the same electrolytes and such and are equal for hydration. If worried about the sugar content get the light gatorade, but either way sugar is also given to ailing creatures for a boost so have at the gatorade. Pedialyte is 2x as expensive or better, but companies know that people will pay more for things that are "for kids" so if you label something as being good for sick babies people will think of gatorade for sports and nothing else...but for real, they are the same...except pedialyte tastes like salty garbage, and gatorade is palatable. I like the purple one...not the light purple but the dark purple..not that the flavor choice matters.

I'll water it down and give it to him. He hasn't really drank anything for 24 hours now, so he needs something.

I always add Gatorade to the water for newly hatched chicks as it helps give them a boost, so I'm sure it's fine.
