We got chicks on April 24th My Australorp crowed for the first time on June 1stAs the title said. I have 3 roosters about 4 months old and none of then have started crowing and none have their tail sickles yet. Is this normal? This is my first time raising chickens so I don't know if this is normal or not.
I see some blue/purplish feathers is that the shiny ones youre talking about? As for pictures i couldnt get them since it rained all day and i couldnt open themMy last cockerel didn't crow until his was almost 6 months old, so it's possible. Have you parted the feathers in the saddle area (above the tail towards shoulders) to look for shiny feathers coming in? Good, current pictures of comb, full body in natural posture, and saddle area could help a lot.
It could be, roosters adult saddle feathers have a very iridescent quality the color varies depending on the breed.I see some blue/purplish feathers is that the shiny ones youre talking about? As for pictures i couldnt get them since it rained all day and i couldnt open them
