My roosters are starting to exhibit antisocial behavior

I won't say that it has to be Freezer Camp (I have received many flames before for suggesting such a thing), but mean roos gotta go somewhere else. The only time I have kept such a bird is when there are some very hard-won genetics or specialty reason that makes him worth it. Even then, he is still sequestered form the rest of the flock - no reason my hens have to endure that nonsense.

Today is an experiment of sorts...

Tribble is in "jail" today, in a dog crate inside the chicken barn, mainly to see how the flock, and specifically, Raven do without him, it's looking good so far, Raven has always been the more rooster-ey of the two, he will find food for the girls, keep watch, the only thing he never got to do is mate, as Tribble would never let him

Raven also looks over the EE pullets like they were his own, heck, with Tribble in jail, the other two laying hens are staying with the flock, whenever Tribble is around, they split up and both stay as far away as possible

Tribble would also never do the "good food is here" cluck, and indeed, whenever Raven did, he'd be the first there to steal it, basically, he was always a jerk, a cute, fuzzy, funny looking jerk but still a jerk

I don't take the putting down of an animal lightly, I have to exhaust other options first, but if the flock is happier without Tribble, then he needs to go away

I hate to say it but Tribble has worn out his welcome, I will be solving this issue tonight

I released him from "jail" this morning, and within minutes he was back to his antisocial behavior and tormenting the pullets, frustrated, I chased him into the barn, cornered him, grabbed him (and discovered his tail feathers are nicely able to support his body weight

) and tossed him back in jail

Sorry Tribble, I hoped you would mellow out with some alone time, and I'm sorry you inherited your father's craziness, but the rest of the flock (Raven excepted) is happier without you...

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one...
