My roosters wattles are black!!! Need help

It happens anytime the temps drop below freezing on birds with large combs and waddles. Key factors are coupe humidity and draft control. These birds can withstand very low temperatures. I have seen it -22*f here in Western New York State and had no issues. On the other hand I had one brown leghorn rooster that frostbit the first night it dropped below 25*F. The leghorn liked to roost alone in one of my mobile coups that I use for meat birds and replacement layer rearing. I only use them during summer months, so the coup ends are open, only covered in wire. The night he frostbit there was a steady breeze blowing and he was mostly unprotected.
