My school's new rules..Long RANT

Unfortunately, a lot of jobs now a days are beginning to enforce similiar rules. Law enforcement is one that comes to mind. Not only do they want the information to your online accounts, but some employers also require usernames and passwords.

The world we live in is quickly becoming one in which nothing is private. Its one more reason to be wary of everything you put up on the internet, whether it be pictures, stories, videos, music, or whatever. You never know what will show up sometime in the future.

It's within thier rights.

Somewhere in your school paperwork would be something along the lines of "_________ (student) will abide by all rules set forth in the student code of conduct" and you or your parents or both signed it.

So yeah, they can do it, a public school can do it, and you're stuck with it. Remember even your Granny can find your myspace page, and never post anything you don't want her to see.

Eh. It's an easy rule to break, so I wouldn't worry about being expelled over it, unless you are just the most horrible liar on the planet. Best thing to do is get your parents in a rip roaring rage over it, so that they either chew those people out or decide to yank you out of that school. If your parents are the type who would support the school in this, I am so, so sorry. I wish you luck.

ETA: On second thought, getting expelled might be the desirable route to go in this case . . .

I think it is legal, since it is a private organization.
As stated above, the memo is an embarrassment considering that it supposedly comes from a school. "As followings..." ? "Family's" ? "Loosing"? Scary.
I hope that its being unaccredited does not cause problems with getting into college if that's what you want to do.
I'm just surprised they did not somehow include cell phone texts -- I guess they didn't because it would be harder to check than a website.
I wonder if they will really have a person at the school who monitors all of this stuff? Probably so.

I went to public school and am glad I did. The private schools in my town were either rich-kid "white flight" academies or somewhat questionable religious "schools" (I use that term loosely). Many kids from the private schools ended up transferring to public school.

Good luck.
