My shipped roo :( **He didn't make it**

Exactly Davian. Enough complaints, and maybe they will quit shipping birds, also. If you don't like the service the Post Office gives you, drive the bird there yourself, because that is the only way it's going to get there, otherwise. I'm quite sure that when the post office began accepting shipments of live birds, chickens were just a farm animal. It was a service offered to allow breeding stock to be moved around. Nobody ever expected chickens to be treated like your adopted child. If the chicken means so much to you that you would be devastated at an accidental death, drive the bird to its destination. Then you don't have cause to biotch because something happened. I had a silkie roo shipped via USPS from NY to Savannah Ga about a year ago. He made it sooner than promised, and in great shape.

I think head trauma see my post about a lav roo with head trauma. I gave him predasone (sp?) for a total of 2 months (have to come off it slowly) he had the same symptoms and believe it or not he was fine after a few months of care. I used the predasone the DR had prescribed for my ds
good luck!

I for one am certainly grateful for the PO.

. As a government agency I'm impressed with how much they get done and how well they do it. Can't say that for any other agency that I can think of. I will be thinking twice before ordering any adult birds from very long distances.

Im sorry for what's happened to your bird.

Your hard work and posts are appreciated on this end.

My gripes are not unrealistic with them. If they offer the service AND charge us a TON of money to ship then they should at LEAST offer some kind of proper handeling. If they don't want to give it proper handeling to an animal in general then they need to post that and lower their prices. I agree it is very convient to ship and not drive but they have been in business so long I would think by now they would have this somewhat figured out. I would honestly pay more to them if they practiced safe handeling.

Sucker#1 :

Let's not make this a pissing match about the PO. I just want an update on this little guy!

Agreed. Today I single handedly tube fed him. Hes beyond stubborn and kicked my butt royally. He is strong for a little silkie! My girls have never kicked my butt on any thing lol. Hes still walking backwards tho. We just can't find the forward button. Still looking tho. I believe the root to his eating and drinking problem stems from his lack of balance. He does not lean forwards at all unless I support him. So we are slowly figuring this out but no major progress yet. Tomorrow I will put him in the run for fresh air and socialization with supervision.

I'm sad to tell everyone that my little boy is in decline. He won't stand, fight, or chirp. I believe his head injury is more serious then what we and the vet thought. I did see small signs of decline but I did not think that he would give up because he has been so strong. I'm sitting here now holding onto him and trying not to ball like a baby, but its hard. I think today might be his last because I can't coax him out of it. I don't know what to do for him.
