Just got back from the vet. He doesn't think it will work but he gave him the shot anyway and he didnt charge me a office fee. He said if he does improve then we will continue shots. Only time will tell now.

That's great, he sure was nice not to charge you an office visit. We'll pray that the shot takes effect enough to give him some strength to fight. I believe if the steroids can kick in fast enough, he just might have a chance.

For a little humor I have a mixed flock of 30 all sorts of standards and bantams. My DH looks at me (while in crying and hysterical of course) and says "theres no way we are ever gonna be able to eat a chicken huh". I couldnt help but grin a little and sniffle "nope I dont think so".

We first got the standards with the thought of eggs and meat. I fell head over heels in love with the bantams. When a standard is causing hell I tell my DH its his child go deal with it. And vise versa with the bantams. We knew (he knew lol) that my bantams were not to be eaten (even tho u cant eat them anyway) and the standards well were suppose to be meat and eggs. So never in a million years would I think of taking a chicken to a vet.

Its just amazing how these little guys just capture your heart and become family. I have never cried so hard over a bird before. Thank you guys for all your advise and help and prayers. I will keep you updated.

If I was a farmer I would die broke and hungry lol. I just don't have the heart to do that to an animal. It would turn into an animal sanctuary
