My silkie... and feathering question. Pic of comb on Post 1!

With even pet quality (hatchery quality) silkies, there is no way to determine gender (short of DNA testing) until the bird is at least 3 to 4 months old. With better quality birds it will usually take many months longer. Ideally a silkie should NEVER show red in its comb, regardless of gender. Size differences will not be apparent for many months, either.
 
Hope these help. I can take a picture of my hens if you'd like as well. They are just over a year old now. BTW, I didn't really see a whole lot of red in your chicks comb. I'm no expert but it looks like a hen to me.
