My Silkie is sick

Hello,
I have a sick silkie. She is 3 months old. I found her in the coop laying down with her legs sprawled out. She was lethargic so I took her inside of the house, gave her medicated chick food and water with electrolytes and probiotics in it. She dosen't seem to eat or drink by herself right now and she dosen't peep at all. One of her sisters had the same symptoms of this but she died about a month ago . When her sister was alive I gave her Electro lights and Probiotics too. I also gave her sister a little bit of Corid. I had to syringe water her though because she didn't drink but she ate. Her sister and her lived in the same coop with the same mom. I did feed them all layer crumble all together because there were other adults in with them. I have heard of other people who fed their chicks and birds all layer crumble so I thought it wouldn't hurt them. Could that possibly be what is going on with my chick? What could be happening with my chick?

I am sorry but layer feed had too much calcium for chicks.

When you say you gave it a little bit of Corid...exactly how much?

You can't give just a little bit...it won't work. You need to give a full course of treatment.

I didn't give the full treatment for the corid. I only gave it to her sister for 3 days. I am currently out of Nutri-Drench and Corid right now so I will get that along with the rooster booster today.

Could be from both.

You have treated this specific bird for coccidiosis before?

Do you use the powder or liquid Corid?

I have not treated her before but I have treated others. I use the liquid corid.

I'd start treating her now just in case.

I believe that once you have had to treat for Coccidiosis it is highly likely you will need to treat ALL future new birds.

Also think you need to stop feeding the chicks layer ... Instead you may want to feed Flock Raiser or All Purpose instead, put a separate dish of Oyster Shells for the layers. The extra calcium in the layer feed isn't good for the males/Roos also, causes liver/kidney damage.

For sure...layer feed is bad for chicks.

Ok, I will treat her with Corid and stop feeding them layer food if there are chicks in their coop. It said on the bag that it was 16% layer food, does that make a difference? I have put her in a box and took her into the house and given her medicated chick food. Is my chick sick because she had too much calcium or is it from something else?
