My simple laundry sink fodder growing setup.

No dirt required. Just water.

Super easy.

Wonderful idea! Perfect for my area - we have cold and frost from October to May and dry/drought July-September. I will definitely be giving this a try as soon as the spring grass dies off.

Just found this thread, read it all the way thru! Great looking setups ScottM and Skip! I love the simplicity! I haven't started my fodder yet. I'm the type of person who needs to know EVERYTHING about something before I start, and then I think I have to go whole hog, instead of starting out small and going from there!!

I've been on the other thread about fodder feeding and have learned a lot from great people there also!!

I have a few questions for you ScottM. You stated you are organic. Does that mean you use organic seed for your fodder and do you get it at a feed store or some other place? I only ask because I would LOVE to use organic/non-gmo feed, but have a hard time finding it around here. Also, what do you use, if anything, other than bleach to rinse your seeds in? Wormrun has a recipe she has used using vinegar and grapefruit seed extract. She said it worked great! I'm wondering if just vinegar would work. I'm going to call around my area today to see what is available here. Thanks everyone!

I've got a question. I've started growing fodder and I've only been getting 3 and a half lbs. of fodder from 1 lb. I've read you can get up to 8 lbs from 1 lb. I was wondering how I can increase the yield from it .

Thanks

P.S. I use barley and field peas ( field peas are for calcium)

I just found this thread today and am so thankful. I'm like wormrun, needing to know everything I can before committing but this is so appealing to me I will have to try it! I really appreciate all the detailed info AND the great photos! For me, those are as helpful as the typed information, maybe even more so. Thank you all for sharing so generously!

I've been making a few updates to my profile today and my first post since then is just above. Can anyone tell me where "Just Hatched" may have come from? I definitely didn't add that anywhere? (Beneath my name). I'm such a newbie to these forums and I haven't figured it all out.
Also, how do some people have information at the bottom of their posts that list their chickens?

"Just hatched" is what you might call something that tells other folks how new or many post you have made, it is done by the forum. As to those information strips, that is done in your profile page. You can start and modify it any time you wish. It is called "your forum signature". HTH
