Not sure what happened at the age of 25 I had all the answers, now I'm twice that and don't have any.

This poll is almost as bad as the chicken/egg argument and one step ahead of how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll lolly pop. The world may never know.

duckinnut, it gets worse at 70 - trust me on that.

At 25, everything was black or white with just a smidge of gray here and there. At this point in life, very little is black and white. And that is not necessarily a bad thing.

At 25 you can blame your youth at 75 you can blame old age. What do you blame at 50?

duh..... its a loaf!!!!!!!!!! ehem... banana BREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! its in the name.

duh....... Well why isn't it called banana loaf then or loaf of banana ? So why do they call it corn bread when its made in a square cake pan? If you pour it into a muffin pan they become corn muffins no longer bread? The same could be said for banana mix poured into a muffin pan they become muffins, shouldn't they be called banana biscuits? I would assume you have these answers.

So many questions in life and so few answers.

I'm just browsing through the recipes and found this, and even though it's old, I must reply! (Must!)

The two choices are not mutually exclusive. One is a substance; the other a shape. Cake and bread can both be made in a loaf shape, or a bundt pan, or as cupcakes/muffins, or any shape your pan is in. For firmer doughs, no pan is needed and it makes its own shape.

As far as banana bread goes...it can be either cake or bread, depending on the recipe. I've seen banana "bread" that was frosted. (ugh) I've seen people put butter on it. (also ugh) For my family, it falls under the snack cake heading, along with coffee cake...no matter what shape it is.
