My sisters German Shephard gave birth today!

Hard to know sometimes what a GSD pup will grow to look like. They were the first breed I showed and then raised. It was fun to watch them change.

The sable puppies are darker now then they will be as adult dogs. The black and tan puppies will turn out quite light like the Mom most likely. Those puppies sure are cute, fat and look very healthy!

pretty pups! Congrats to your sister! I am guessing the hips/elbows were xrayed and certified clear by OFA on both sire and dam? I breed Tibetan Mastiffs, my female just had 13 pups 5 days ago and boy, what a chore! Thankfully, all are reserved and then some (additional reservations in case one of the original 13 folks back out) and this has been the best reservation list I've ever had in 31 years!! Helps if the daddy is top winning dog of amazing beauty and mom is champion and equally as beautiful, both parents are hip/elbow/thyroid/eye certified.

Hope you are able to post more pics as the GS pups grow up!

There are some interesting genetics at work here. To come out with sables from a saddleback and a white?

Hmmm........ veeery interesting.

Yes white GSD are AKC registered but they are not allowed in the show ring. They have their own organization I belive for showing.

If a white pops up in a German or Czech (or Belgian or or or, basically anywhere but the good ol U.S.) they kill it at birth. The SV and most other foreign registries will NOT register a white.

Chickbea, yes, if the parents are AKC registered, whites can be registered as well. But whites cannot be shown at AKC conformation venues, but can be at what are called, rare breed shows.
