Have you thought about Ameraucanas? Are they ugly? Most certainly not. They are the best looking bird on the planet. (totally not biased.)

But they are unique looking and adorable.

Also here‘s one of my interesting looking birds. I don’t think she’s ugly but she is interesting. She has a small crest, interesting comb, and lightly feathered legs.

Dark Cornish are some of my favorite dino chickens, or a good dorking cross with half sized legs might be different enough without being truly ugly!

(I also keep bantam sized silkies in my main flock, with some pretty pushy production reds, and they definitely hold their own and are somewhere in the middle of the pecking order)

I would prefer larger fowl. The bigger two I have now are kind of bullies and I don't want them to have anything little to pick on.

I've kept Bantams, & standards together with out a problem for years. Plus I keep regular birds with silkies too. Not with bantam silkies anymore though. One was killed by a Turkey. He was the only one in the coop of bantam size.
