Awesome poem I think.

A possessed couch? Wow, did they call it Christine the Couch?
Sorry just a little levity in a somewhat dark and creepy thread........

In a similar tale to one told already about spirits in the house. My ex GFs house was haunted by the man who had built it and died in it. BUT, he was a pleasant spectre and you only saw him if you were in the house alone. It was like he was looking out for you. If you saw him, he would be at the window looking out.
I never personally saw him but my ex and her parents saw him numerous times. My only encounter with him was one night was in the living room watching tv with the dogs. The couch faced away from the kitchen. The dog sitting next to me looked up towards the kitchen with that puzzled look on his face and then I heard the very distinctive steps of a mans boots walking across the kitchen floor. Like someone said about their dad sitting in his chair and not getting up. Did the same haha. Didnt even bother to turn around and look. Its better not knowing in my opinion.
FYI--they did heavy remodeling on the house not long after that and he was never seen or heard again.

Sarahfair, this is just a thought, but:

Haven't you had some personal issues lately? I remember you posting awhile back about anxiety sort of things really getting you down.
That combined with strange activity would worry me a bit.

I was thinking two potential situations. One, something bad could be stressing out you and your son.
Two, your son could be subconsciously picking up on your anxiety and it's manifesting as strange activity. Poltergeist-type activity is usually associated with children and strong emotions.

I hope you guys find the answer!

I was not going to mention that I also get these feelings that something is wrong somewhere and sometimes it is hard to pin point where they are coming from. I am also very aware of spirits or ghost what ever you want to call them. I can also feel spirit guides of myself and others I knew each of my children's spirit guides and also their totem animals and I can usually find everyone's to totem animal most people have them and don't even know about them. but I don't tell many people because they think I am completely crazy or I am one of the "new age crazies"

What is kind of scary about that room, the door by where the knob was looks kicked in.
The hallway that leads to it had what look like blood splatter (now painted over). They guy who helped us paint that area even kind of nervously laughed about it.
Took the knob out cause DS kept locking the door a couple years back

You said on one post that you pulled hard on the door and it wouldn't open, but there's no knob in the door, right? So I'm thinking you have some other latch in place? Or did you have something else that kept it from opening?

I've had all kinds of odd things happen in my life, I am definitely psychic, but I've so far not developed much control over it. It just happens when it happens. Often, my experiences are of a small insignificant nature, and only serve to let me know it still works. For example, one day, out of the blue, a song I remembered from childhood got stuck in my head. "Beans in Your Ears", is the title. Hadn't thought of it in probably 30 or more years. Boom, there it is, playing in my head, for days. Then, flipping through the tv channels about a week later, there was program on PBS, honoring Bill Cosby. I've always loved "The Coz", so I watched it. Not far into the show, the composer of that song was on, and he performed "Beans in Your Ears". See what I mean? No actual significance in my life at all, not a warning, or anything I needed to know. But this sort of thing happens with me all the time.

I do have other, more significant occurrences, some have been warnings. Precognitive dreams, the occasional actual vision, almost Melinda Gordon or Allison DuBois style. I had poltergeist activity around me as a teenager, when my emotions were really in powerful upheaval. I believe the pictures that flew off the walls, and dishes that crashed in the kitchen cupboards, and light bulbs that exploded, (yes, exploded, and it happened a lot) when I was upset about something, were cause by my own telekinetic energy.

So I don't think you're weird or anything.

Your son may or may not remember the conversations in the closet. He may be outgrowing that ability by now. It's not uncommon for kids to see and hear spirits, or pick up energy "echoes" or whatever they are.

The outline on the carpet may or may not be blood. It could be blood, rust, BBQ sauce, or something else. Could be a stain from red clay, if that's present in your area. Try pouring a little hydrogen peroxide on it, and see if it bubbles. If it does, it's blood, if it doesn't, well, a negative may not mean much, as old as the stain is, but a positive would be informative. If it is blood, it may have been from an accidental injury of some kind, or something we haven't though of in this thread. For example, we raise and butcher poultry, we hunt and process deer in the fall, we have pets, 5 dogs and 8 cats, all except 4 of the cats are in and out of the house. Sometimes a dog or cat gets injured and comes in bleeding. Sometime my DH or I get injured and come in bleeding. If you sprayed luminol around our house, it would probably look like a crime scene. (Especially the kitchen, where I once made the mistake of slaughtering a rooster indoors, thinking I'd found a method of doing the deed in a manner that would not result in a big flapping mess. I was mistaken.)

As for the shape of the stain, it could be the outline of a knife, or a rubber spatula like you'd use to scrape a mixing bowl,
kkapers2_2110_237360425
(like that top one there, but with a longer blade-part, I've seen some, but this pic is the closest I could find) or it could be where there was a box or something on the floor and something was spilled there. Can the edge of the closet door line up with the straight part, when the door's open?

Doors like that one in the pic aren't very sturdy, I've seen similar damage from kids roughhousing, or playing with a large dog in the house. It may be no more than that.

None of this means there's nothing there, but odds are the stains and the broken doors aren't from anything sinister. The activity with the closet door, and the heavy, thick-aired feeling may be unrelated.

What I would do, is something I've done several times in the past, to dispel negativity. I smudge the space with white sage and cedar leaf, banish all harmful and negative energy and spirits, and invite in all helpful and positive energy and spirits. When I finish up, I mentally seal all windows and doors with a medicine wheel, goddess spiral, triangle (for the Trinity, though I'm not religious in the way most people would think of it), or whatever symbol seems appropriate for the occasion. If you decide to do this, you can incorporate into this, asking the spirit what he/she/it wants. Or not. Or you could try communicating with the spirit beforehand.

If you try EVP's and you hear something, but can't understand it, try playing it backwards. When I heard a program on the radio about EVP's, ("Coast to Coast" with George Noory) the ones they played sounded to me like they were something being played backwards. If you're a Beatles fan, like me, you might remember "Revolution Number 9". The part that sounds like "turn me on dead man, turn me on dead man, turn me on dead man..." is actually the part that says "number nine, number nine, number nine..." played backwards. It's weird what sound s you get when you turn a tape around. If you record on an old reel to reel, you only have to flip the tape around the wrong way and play it, a cassette, you can unspool the portion of the tape in question, and just twist that one portion so it's got a fold at each end of the portion, so that part will play backwards. If you've ever gotten a book on tape from the library, and found a part where it played backwards, that's why, a part of the tape got twisted. (I've done that, and manually wound and re-wound tapes finding and untwisting those parts so I could listen to that part of the story.) I never did record any of the EVP's from the radio broadcast to test that theory, it wasn't important enough to me to bother, but if you pick anything up, it's something to bear in mind. Why EVP's would come out backward, I have no idea, but that's what they sound like to me.

Anbhean, in your experiences with EVP's, have you ever tried playing them backwards?

Haven't read all the posts but if this is causing you stress do some research if you did not buy the house new. Before we sold my mother in laws house after she passed, the heat had been left off through the winter for reasons I won't go into. Because of this there was "condensation" that had stained all the ceilings and walls just as you describe. We had to pay a painter to come in and repaint every room in the house. So this might be the "blood" you believe you saw.

As for the door have a carpenter come in and "reset" the door. It could just be off kilter enough for the catch not to catch and hold the door closed. Having put in a few doors I've had this problem.

The title to the house and records should be found at the county court house in the records department. Your title that you got or should have gotten when you purchased the house should have a listing of everyone who has owned the house. If the house had been foreclosed previous to when you or previous owners bought the property this could account for the blood stains you describe. While flood and water damage has to be devulged many sellers are as crooked as a politician.

Don't let your imagination run away with you for your sons sake. You want him to feel safe. I wouldn't speak of eeerrrie things in front of him.

Wishing you well

I thought of another thing, if the floor is soft in spots, (my floors are awful, and need to be torn out and replaced) you could very well cause the door to swing open, when you walk on the floor on the other side of the wall from the closet, if that's a hallway or another room where you walk. Step in the right spot, cause the floor to sink slightly, and the door in the other room could swing open. You could test that by waiting in the room away from the closet, and have your DH or somebody walk around in areas on the other side. Maybe bump the walls, etc., anywhere that a vibration or structural shift might occur.

If you find a physical cause, your son may remember the whole thing as a funny incident, especially if you show him how it works, and laugh about it with him.

A "touch" lamp on the bedside table for your son might be nice, where he could reach out and tap it for instant light anytime he felt apprehensive. I had a 3-way one, the low setting was about like a night light. Great for getting up at night to go to the bathroom, too.

I just thought of the floor thing. I had an apartment that would show wet spots when the weather was damp. It didn't feel wet just looked wet, or had dark spots.

My DD (5) just ran into my bedroom screaming and very upset and said she saw a ghost of a man in her room. An older man with long hair and a long 'wide' beard, and pants... thats how she knew it was a man. She does make up stories, but not like that. the man who owned the land died 30 years ago, and was a weird old dude, who lived alone in a ramshackle cabin by himself, and I wouldn't be surprised if he looked like DD described... Here comes the salt...
