My son was right! Scary!!

I would suggest that if you do EVP work in the room, you don't do much and you don't do it often. Sometimes giving these energies the attention they want only feeds the situation. I tell clients all the time that watching a lot of paranormal shows, trying seances, tarot, large amounts of EVP work and so on often times can increase activity. I've found it to be true a LOT. If your son has to remain in the room, I'd be very careful what I'd be willing to stir up.

Also, when reviewing your recordings, wear headphones. I know it sounds hokey but my house has minor activity and I find that if I review "evidence" after an investigation without headphones it also stirs up activity. And that's from recordings I collect at other peoples' houses! I have no idea what might happen if it was from my own house.

Just a thought.

wow that is weird but honestly when I read this the first reaction I had as why did you not scoop up your ds and take him out of the room too? If it frightened you I just dont see why you left him there. I realize he was safe and that is was a feeling but.... Maybe he could co-sleep with you guys until you figure it out?

He was already in our bed from watching a movie. Everyone was a sleep but I and I went in there to get scooby doo out of the DVD player.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am a little slow sorry.....

that's really creepy- i'd be scared!

me too!!!!!!!!!!!!

no it was not bad they never bothered us just lived there with us it wasn't bad it was sad that they all died but that was it, the only thing is she would move ashtrays and stuff like that but nothing bad just her cleaning the house. I guess it has never bothered me but then ghost or spirits don't bother me anyways.

You know, if I were you I would replace the door with a door knob that can't lock, and remove the carpet. You can find cool remnants cheap. They have great solid wood doors at architectural salvage places.

The #1 rule of feng shui is that energy can't move through clutter and everything must be in clean and working condition. Not to mention everytime I walked by it it would freak me out just imagining someone bleeding and kicking the door out. I imagine that your house is in a lot better shape than ours and that the door and stain are more noticeable than they would be here. There are so many things in our house that don't work or aren't clean that I don't notice them, which is a bonus!

The more we fix up the more I notice the things that need fixing... Only solution is to stop fixing...or stop buying 150 year old houses!!!! OK, maybe keep fixing but faster, I can only imagine what we could get done if it weren't for these darn chickens.............Building the run is going on 3 weeks and we don't even have the wire up.

Good luck! Schellie that story seriously freaked me out with being carried down the stairs and all. When we first moved in here we felt the house didn't like us but I think it was just waiting to see how we would treat it. It hadn't had a good time of it for the last 20 years or so. I think it's ok now.

Was talking to my wife about this thread and how amused I was by it, she told me the following story.
She works at an older elementary school that has been there for some time. All of the teachers hate to go up there at night or on the weekend alone because they feel creeped out.
SO, one of her fellow teachers was up there one weekend working by herself. This teacher left her classroom for a few minutes to go get something from the office and came back to her room and something felt different. After a moment she noticed one of her computers that had been left turned off was now on and the screen was filled with text written in German.
Now thats creepy.

I personally have a hard time believing in alot of paranormal activity. I dont deny that others have experiences or that I myself have had odd occurences happen in my life. I think to a certain degree our own minds have an unbelievable ability to create and manipulate our thoughts. I must not fear, fear is the mind killer. Its a line I have heard and said to myself many times. Fear is a state of mind, it will consume you if you let it.

What is kind of scary about that room, the door by where the knob was looks kicked in.
The hallway that leads to it had what look like blood splatter (now painted over). They guy who helped us paint that area even kind of nervously laughed about it.
Took the knob out caues DS kept locking the door a couple years back

That looks exactly like an outline of a knife. If there were a crime committed there you could look it up at your local SO or PD. If it were professionally cleaned up they wouldn't have left an outline of a weapon on the floor. If it were taken care of by family or friends they may not have known how to remove the stain. It's probably a friendly entity though, even violent deaths don't mean you have a violent spirit. I have the spirits of my murdered little sisters, 8 and 6 and step-mother 38 around me all of the time.

Okay, I have two things to <reluctantly> share:

I hate the word psychic because it sounds so hokey, but I have a very keen sixth sense. I just get certain vibes from things, but I'm not in tune enough to be able to explain them most of the time, so usually my 'feelings' are useless. Well, SarahFair, no offense meant AT ALL, but every time I see your name/avatar, I get the strangest feeling. I can't pinpoint it, it's just a strange feeling that comes over me. The other day, when you PM'd me, I saw your name and it actually startled me, lol, even though it was a perfectly friendly message. So I don't know how to explain it more than that, but maybe I'm sensing something relating to what you have going on there? Who knows.

Since people are telling stories, I'll offer one. Years ago when I was around 20, I rented an apartment with several room mates. It was the downstairs of a duplex, which was originally a single family home from the 19th century. Our landlord was the adult son from that house, that rented it out after his elderly mother died.

So, I did not know any of that. What I noticed was when I would leave a room for more than a couple of minutes, the light in the room I left would go out. Now, these lights were all wall sconces, with a twisty switch at the bottom of the sconce that you had to twist to turn off, and when you did it made a loud "click". I would hear the click and turn and realize the light was off. This happened several times before I mentioned it to my roomates who said they noticed the same thing.

One roommate had a bedroom that was not part of the radiator heating system, and so his bedroom only was electric heat with a thermostat. After I brought up the lights going out of empty rooms, he said he noticed whenever he left the house, he would come back to find the thermostat in his room had been turned all the way down. He thought we were doing it. We all agreed none of us had changed his thermostat. A few times I would leave the pantry light on, which was a pull-rope, and I would even hear the pull-rope pull and sure enough the light would be out.

So fast forward several months. We had all gotten used to it and even had a running joke about a ghost. Well, one day our landlord stopped by. He was a very old Greek man who we seldom ever saw in person. He stopped in, and we all got chatting. We didn't mention the "ghost" of course, because we didn't want to sound crazy, but we did get talking about the house. He started telling stories about living there as a boy, and casually mentioned that his mother wasn't used to having electricity, and became a real miser about it. He said if they left a room with the light on his mother would follow them around, shutting off the lights behind them and yelling at them about being wasteful.

Well, needless to say, we all looked at each other and couldn't believe our ears. The landlord/son sensed that we were freaked out and asked what was wrong. I casually confessed about the lights going out on their own when we left a room. I thought he was going to think we were crazy, but instead he asked us if we ever heard the "dumb waiter" go up and down on it's own. For those who don't know what a dumb waiter is, it's a panel in the wall that has a mini elevator type platform that can be pullied to the upstairs and down again, commonly used for delivering breakfast to an upstairs bedroom back in the day. Well, we had never heard the dumb waiter go up and down on it's own, but he did tell us that when he lived in the house as an adult (before he rented it out) that he would sometimes hear the dumb waiter squeak up and down in the early morning. He said his mother died upstairs (the other apartment) and that in her final days, food and medication were being constantly delivered up to her room. And she would constantly deliver Notes and requests to the maid downstairs via the dumb waiter.

So, pretty freaky. Ever since that experience, I have never judged anyone for "ghost stories" or weird happenings. I know those lights clicked off on their own whenever I left a room, and it's too coincidental for me that the original owner was a electricity miser. So I don't question anything anymore.

Plus, I know that "Heavy feeling" that SarahFair describes and the urgency to get the heck out of a room or place. I am told that the previous owner of my newly purchased house died here in the house, but thankfully, I don't have any strange vibes and feel completely content here, so not all things are scary at least.

Wow, you're right. It does look exactly like a knife, I didn't notice that before! I wouldn't normally ask, but since you brought it up, do you mind sharing the story of your sisters? Was your step mother murdered as well? What do you experience that tells you they are there? Only if you don't mind sharing, I certainly do not mean to pry.
