My Sons' New Pet???

I'm guessing you live in CA. Maybe I should be glad! You're clear across the country from me, so I can't be tempted. As much as I want a puppy, I don't have the time for one right now.

better there in the garbage can than the heating ducts like my little brother did one winter! Ohhh, that thing was nasty! a huge toothy male, but he hand fed it through the floor heat ducts for weeks before discovered. Never a dull moment! And yes, I agree, that's not gonna be the last "pet" they bring home!

ask my mom...

Possums I don't tolerate too well. They will give a horse EPM if they urinate in their water or urinate and/or defecate on the hay and the horse ingests it. Nasty, ugly, temperamental creatures, they need to move along......

Ok, I admit, I'm one of the possum lovers who thinks they are cute.

Then again, I think tarantulas and scorpions are cute...I've had those as pets before.

But I'm REALLY glad you found this guy, for his benefit and the benefit of your sons! I sure wouldn't want the business end of THOSE pearly whites!

I too like possums.
There used to be a BYC member Rooster Red I believe that would sneak up on possums and pick them up. He posted pics. He was my hero. lol!
Well last week I walked out on my deck and surprised a possum. It stuck its head under a plant pot and played "possum". I couldn't resist, I reached down and tweaked its tail. I was surprised- it felt like butter soft warm leather. It didn't react at all. I've had the chance to pet a possum several years ago and their fur is soft, like a kitten.

Imp- glad you didn't hurt it.

I just shot one of those 35 min ago who was gnawing on one of my precious Rhode island Red laying hens and even ironically just posted it glad you got rid of it hope it dont come back darn chicken killers.

Sounds like me and my brothers, we caught a half grown raccoon in trash can, had him for two days, then Dad open the can....not good. Another time we caught a young redtail hawk, had him in a outbuilding. feed him mice, hid it for about 4 days, then Dad open the door, scare him, he just left the door open. That one got us the belt..............
