I'm sorry you lost Pearline. There are many of us here that view their birds as more than "just" a chicken. And it's not uncommon to have one in a flock we feel especially close to.

It's not easy losing any of them, but those special ones are heartbreaking. Unfortunately, it happens sooner or later due to predators, illness or age. You have to deal with it the best you can and if it helps to talk about Pearline, you have a lot of people here on BYC that understands.

I too am so very sorry you lost Pearline and yes, we do understand how you are feeling and can sympathise and offer a virtual shoulder. They are never “just chickens” and losing one is the same as losing any other much loved pet or working [farm] animal.

Oh I am so so sorry.

I have lost members of my flock too over the years. They become part of the family and it can really tear at the heart when they pass. I know exactly how bad it feels. They may no longer be at your side, but they are in your heart forever. I do hope your heavy heart heals soon.
