Yesterday, I took my daughter to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home in Mansfield, MO. She loves the Little House series.

So, "on the way home," we decided to go through Lebanon, MO. It's not too far out of the way. We had ordered chicks from Cackle Hatchery and my daughter wanted to see where they'll be coming from (due to ship on June 16).

I'm an addict. We walked out of there with 4 Buff Orpington chicks. It would have been more, but we had to restrain ourselves because we know another batch is coming in three weeks.

All four survived the 3 hour drive home and the night. So cute!

It looks like a nice clean operation there. They have a large variety of already hatched 2 day olds and tons of 1 week olds.

That sounds cool but I woldnt order from them since I live out of state (my local feed store gets them from there but thats my only exception) because Ive heard too many times about them shipping the wrong order or sending them to a post office 200 miles away from where theyu should be plus they are mega expensive.

I just ordered 15 chicks from them and after I did, I was reading some stories about the hatchery being not so great and I was SO WORRIED, but my chicks got here friday ALL alive, and not only did I get 15......there was 22 in the box!!!!!!! I live in the Chicago suburb area and the mail lady brought the box right to my door!

Just wanted to clear up that they may make mistakes sometimes but they aren't all bad

In fact they're pretty great!

I would have loved to see a place like that. That has got to be so interesting. I probably would have walked away with more too.

I know next time if I ever get more I will be getting the GLW...they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!

Oh, thank you so much for posting this! I was actually wondering about them. Your info was a big help. What do they do with the older chicks?
