My tiny foster flock

Mine are the same age. Super fun age!

They absolutely are! I only get to see them once a week or so but I see 6 l little heads pop up and look around when they hear me say “cheep cheep!” it’s more than a little adorable. When I pick them up, they settle pretty quickly once it dawns on them that I’m the one holding them. Not a single one shies away from snuggling and being petted. The 6 also tend to roost together on the fence instead of in the roost…but that’s ok. Once a group, always a group I guess.

The bonus is that the rest of the flock seems to be more trusting and will allow me to get close now. A few will even take food/treats from me instead of hanging back. The old roosters are getting curious also, and will approach me without any aggression.

So they’re all about 4 months old now, and it’s time to try to find homes. I broke the Cardinal rule: don’t get attached.

6 months old now, 4 of the cockerels found a new home at Narrow Way Farm (Squeak, Dot, Clover, and Fin) just before Thanksgiving.

Gerri is laying little tiny fairy eggs and mingling well with the established flock.

My big, handsome, friendly boy is Sprite. He’s not a fan of the process of being picked up but will sit contentedly and let me snuggle for a good bit of time. He’s also doing really well with the flock and isn’t fighting at all with the 2 roosters.
