Good point! Mom and dad think that ducks and geese look the same even if they are breed better. There gonna be in for a suprise next year

If you can you should get it from Holderread. His whites are quite beautiful. You can always craigslist the extras.
the ducks I got from a hatchery was the wrong shape. very boxy. I got them from E-fowl. They are actually not a hatchery, but a broker.
Eyes were crusty and ducks had bald spots on the head. Then the white runner "females" I bought turned out to be all boys.
E-fowl claimed that they sold me straight runs but even then, what are the chances of 7 out of 7 boys in a straight run unless they were a straight run out of a cull bin. (which explaines the scarred heads)
If I was closer to you I would split an order with you.
I wasted a lot of time & feed on those ducks, I mean drakes.

Yeah, i would also relay that quality birds speak for themselves. I have had SO many problems with inferior birds.. I will never buy ANYTHING from a hatchery again.. If i can get it locally or domestically from people who care about what they do, and take pride in their work i will certainly buy from them instead.. The end product speaks for itself..

Also, i cant believe this thread is still up!! awesome!! go Holderreads!!

Wish i had some, i just have BEI eggs, and will have some ducklings in the next few weeks from my show quality BEI's. I think i may try runners in the future, dependent on how loud they are. I recently had to get rid of my call ducks (the ones in this thread), because that hen woke me up every night at 3am for 4 days squawking at the top of her lungs! The neighbors (who dont complain about my rooster, which is illegal!) HATED my call ducks, and HATED my BEI's. Thankfully the new pair i got from holderreads are not as loud as my other pair. I recently had to get rid of 4 out of 6 ducks, because of noise, I truly never saw that coming.. WOW ARE THEY LOUD!!!

So yeah, lesson learned, i dont think call ducks (although so cute) will EVER be for me.

Probably gonna get some scovies instead.. They are quiet..

The Holderread Blue runners are very quiet. The boys don't make any noise and the girl has a very soft quack that I only head if I try to catch them.
My Hatchery duck is a loud & bossy one that likes to "talk" to me when I'm out with my treats bucket. She loves that bucket & will eat from it while I am still scooping.
Other than that, I hardly hear them at all, even when I garden.
Oh Wacky will also let me know when I'm too slow bringing her the water.

But I also live quite a ways from my neighbours. I can only hear barking dogs and someone nearby has some geese or something that i hear around 5pm.

PS. Muscovies can fly. Runners can't.

Just an FYI on an old post.. they only ship adults in the fall when the weather is right. In the spring they have ducklings until june, depending on availability. Like everyone else has said, very great people and I only buy my ducks from them. Even if they are a country apart and 40 hours of driving distance between us.
