MY turn to rant!

Pretend you are a duck let it roll off your back

Better yet, GET a duck so you can make sure you are doing it right

Thanks guys for the verbal hugs!!! I guess it's not that uncommon to get grief for chickens! I figure they'll eventually come around, they'll just have to wait and see. And if they don't, oh well. The only person who HASNT given me grief (other than my kids, who are 6 and 4, so of COURSE they're excited), is my dad. He had chickens growing up....banties of some sort...so he gets it. In fact, he's excited. He calls every day and asks, "How's Katie's poultry farm going?" Lol....my chickies haven't even hatched yet. So atleast I have him on my side! And you guys, too. Sort of like a chicken family!

Lol....who knows? Ducks might be next!!!!

That is what came next for us. Dh started us off with chickens and then it grew from there. I was the one beggin for ducks. I did my research and stayed after him! We now have 8 ducks since this last spring

So fun to watch ducks playing in a kiddie pool!

I agree with you completely, except for the part about an egg everyday. Sometimes you get lucky and get hens that really feel no need to earn their keep. Anyway, that's how mine are, they like to pretend they are some kind of elite critters

I'll have to get my hubby to accept the chickies first before working on him for ducks. Maybe by then I can get a house in the country with a few acres and a pond. It'd be heaven on earth!!!

Lol! I had one chicken last year who refused to lay eggs.....finally she layed one and that same day was swept off by a hawk. Go figure.
