Like I said, chickens don't need a reason. (And if you still insist they do I'll give you lots!) They are just naturally better than all animals![]()
Kinda true. I have had chickens that would literally roll in mud (I mean Mud, not dirt bathing).1. Ducks are messy, chickens are not.
True! But chickens need something to dust bath in.2. Ducks need a pond or something to swim in, chickens don't!
Not to me, But doesn't mean there better.3. Chicken eggs have a better taste.
Welsh Ducks-280 - 300 per year, chickens about the same.4. Chickens lay up to 7 eggs a week (try and beat that ducks!)
I think you meant ducks. Plus chickens make the most annoying noise (to me)... and I nearly lost my eye to chickens 4-times!5. Chickens nip and quack, chickens don't!
Not true, A healthy duck will have a super thick shell... chickens thick to but not has much, All my duck's shells have been way better than chickens.6. Chickens eggshells are stronger than duck eggs.
Some do and others lay in the same spot every time.7. Chickens know to lay their eggs in a nesting box, finding duck eggs requires hunting.
True8. With a clean house, water, and feed, chickens can be left alone for 3-5 days, ducks, eh, not so much.
Not true, Every animal is different, some do and some don't!9. My chickens eat as much as it takes to fill them, ducks will gorge themselves.
1. Ducks are messy, chickens are not.
Oh...so all that dust....in the chicken coop...is the ducks fault?
2. Ducks need a pond or something to swim in, chickens don't!
Chickens need dust baths, and will make them everywhere. Especially where you want to walk.
3. Chicken eggs have a better taste.
Duck eggs are bigger
4. Chickens lay up to 7 eggs a week (try and beat that ducks!)
Ducks lay 7 eggs a week, and they are bigger (see #3)
5. Chickens nip and quack, chickens don't!
Ducks do not nip, and chickens DO peck, and do it hard. Chicken also screech their heads off.
6. Chickens eggshells are stronger than duck eggs.
Not true. Just not.... Its actually the opposite.
7. Chickens know to lay their eggs in a nesting box, finding duck eggs requires hunting.
My ducks lay in the nestbox, same corner of the box, every time.
8. With a clean house, water, and feed, chickens can be left alone for 3-5 days, ducks, eh, not so much.
No coment, I never leave any of my animals for days at a time.
9. My chickens eat as much as it takes to fill them, ducks will gorge themselves.
Ducks eat slightly more, because they lay huge eggs. Who can fault them? My ducks will take half a day to eat their bowl of food (so they get food in the morning, and then in the afternoon) , they do not stuff it all in.
There you go!
You can't take it from one person....No, but we know some people who keep ducks, and they told us that ducks were a mistake with them.
