Oh, that would be awesome! I have loved the look of the Australorps, but am hesitant to get them. Our neighbor had one last year that went broody 5 or 6 times during the heat of summer, and I don't have a rooster, so I wouldn't want a broody. I felt so bad for her, the neighbor had them in a cramped pen, and their nests were 5 gallons buckets on their sides. Everyday I would check my chickens and see her over there, roasting without hardly eating or drinking. A couple of times I did sneak into his yard and entice her out with treats, and sometimes even fed and watered his chickens if I could tell that they were empty. Thankfully, he no longer has chickens because he realized that he didn't have time to properly care for them.OK. So I talked with littleblu last night and am going to get the ducks in a few hours. Hurray! Also might have a chance to get some black austrolorp chicks from a schoolroom hatch. This will be great since our first loss was our giant black lorp Pattie. And if we get them it looks like the class project will continue with us photo logging them to share with the kids.
