Started filling the pond!

@birdman55 your presence will be missed on this thread and across BYC. You've been a great motivation for many back yard chicken enthusiests including myself and look forward to your return here. Test run of filling went well, we finished capping it from the outside Monday. Only brought the water up halfway and no cracks to see 
sat back to admire the work yesterday, though I did spend some time repurposing old feed bags to tarp up the hoop coop. It kind of got put on the back burner while all the rest of this has been going on. Still need to finish up the door and I think I'm gonna line the bottom, I have the wire right now so I might as well. So back to the pond, I turned the hose on last night and woke up to a full to the brim pond this morning I hoped the ducks would be ecstatic but they are more apprehensive about it than anything else.
They've walked over to it a few times now and still manage to spook themselves into flapping back up to the house. Even with the incentive of treats they are wary.
I can hear a turkey on the other side of the property. They'll be here more often now, for the water.
Im off to stare at my birds for a bit and contemplate the next big project.

This is where the worst of the damage was. It looked really bad that first day. Torn skin and fatty tissue, exposed muscle. This little trooper is a champ couldn't even feel the scab today and all she wants to do is fly.
Ducks managed to find their way into the pond before work, I'll get some pictures in the morning. But they were loving it for sure. The pond is definitely going to need to be sealed, although there were no large fractures due to the weight of the water there is still a bit of saturation on the outside. Been looking into a few things locally and through amazon but haven't decided yet.

Let it sit for a week or so without adding anymore water, level may drop down to a leak.....
....evaporation might hinder this technique in your area tho.
How thick are the 'walls'?
Did you use any rebar or mesh?
What mix did you use? Some mixes may be more porous than others but don't think most mixes are water tight on their own.
Depending on the size of the 'pores', duck poop detritus may seal it over time.
There's a great pond forum called koiphen that I learned a ton from during my ornamental pond phase.
Yes, it's about keeping koi and filtration is a big part of that,
but the info on the basic structure of a water holding concrete pond is there, lots of info on sealants.

This is from yesterday morning to this morning.
There is wire throughout, rebar stakes into the dirt bowl, and concrete thickness is between 3 to 4" maybe 2 or so on parts off the cap. There is a decent amount of wet soil past the exterior wall. I should be able to test it for the week, the heat has dropped of a bit. Thanks for the koi site I'll take a look when I have some time.

That's quite a drop in 24 hours.....what 10-12".
Could be one of your cold joints(between one days pour and the next day's pour).
