my very own micro farm

Nice saw and so cool you can grow asian pears there ... looks like they are doing really good.  How is your olive trees coming along?

Its mostly just the citrus that has a hard time up here but with the weather changing as much as it has that might change soon. The two olives in the ground are doing well and thriving this year, it looks like they are going to produce small bushels, even the two that are in pots still have some substantial growth on them. I have one location picked out but need to think about where the mission will go as its going to be a tall tree.

Everyone popping up to say hello

Hello. Haha lol

Hello and farewell good sir. Keep the faith and stay positive. We'll catch up soon enough, still looking forward to a visit from you in the fall.
Until then....

It's been a few days since I've posted here and I've felt rather occupied.

I've managed to get some fencing up and joined some corners rather ingeniously.

I started working on a dresser Saturday and hopefully by this afternoon all I'll have left is to stain or paint it.

The Misses got some tomatoes in bigger pots and is happy to buy a few more plants now that the fence is up. I'm personally looking forward to rebulstering my herb garden this year which is doing well but I want it to be overgrown and lush. I've been picking strawberries every few days from there as well.

I got home from work last night and counted only 4 chicks in the brooder, the hona pullet fell behind the brooder and couldn't jump back out of the narrow channel she was in. Poor little thing, no worse for ware tho.

Last of the older chicks are on their 5th day of water treatment and will get to out tomorrow morning, cocci really got ahold of that hatch. It was an eye opener and now I'm taking a few more precautions and have the stuff I need to treat is it happens down the road.

I've been watching qbert fly around the property alot lately, landing on different perches here and there and the reality of a duck tree house is all the more evident, but I dont think I can just settle for a simple box nailed to a tree, I'll have to get creative with it. I'll have to finish a few things up before I jump into that tho.

Always gotta have that long goal in mind

I started having the same issue, my chicks are mid-treatment though. Lots of shed intestinal lining now, but no more raspberry jam poos. Don't forget to give the chicks a boost of thiamine after they finish treatment since the medication works by interfering with the use of that vitamin.

thanks for the heads up there, I remembered reading about something along those lines but specifics are always great.
Nutridrench today and out out tomorrow, just in time too, the fibro and ee's are getting jumpy and should be ready to move off the porch soon. Theyll be a month old this weekend and already look like they want out to explore their new world.
Had a chance to talk to some local farmers at the farmers market last week and have some stuff lined up with work from their crops. A real down to earth couple, about the same age as me and the Misses and they have a little boy that's almost the exact same age as our little girl. Gonna be alot to post on my food thread over the next few months. A decent amount of special catering functions coming up as well.
Busy busy busy.
No headway on the dresser, some friends came by and I ended up just cooking in the kitchen, lamb stew and fresh baked bread.
Chicks are due Friday and momma's been pretty serious about not moving, I've only seen her out two or three times since I put her in the small brooder.
I also have the incubator warming up again. Gonna throw a few of my eggs in there to work out any more quarks it may have, then sky is the limit.

Let the last two little fellas out today, they are certainly happy as can be. We've had a bit of wet weather but as soon as things dry up a bit I'll be moving the honas and their hatch mates outside.

Other than that, still waiting on the broodies, tobe tomorrow and one next week with the duck somewhere in between or around and one after. What ever eggs i get today will go in the incubator tomorrow.

Some good friends of ours and fellow coworkers just got chickens from the feed store snd in true chicken enabler fashion i said i would hatch some out for them. Some other friends lost a good amount of their flock to coyotes so i might try to help them out too. We'll see what all comes about .
