My whole flock was killed last night, please help me

Oh I am so sorry!!! I wish I could help but I don't have any eggs to send so all I can do is offer my sincere wishes that you are able to build back your flock soon. Seems as if you are getting some offers of eggs and that's just wonderful.
I hope you find the culprits soon.
God Bless you
Jacie

Wow! Can't say anything but sorry!
If you want some Buff Orpingtons, EE's (pullets) or a pair of Buttercups, I can spare a few (they are a month old now). Oh yeah and Skittles roos!

A weasel or mink is one of the few WILD animals that will go on a spree and randomly kill more than it needs to eat. They usually target the head and neck area. The fact that the larger birds survived also supports this.

It's no trouble at all. I've helped several people after tragedies like this one; unfortunately, they are too common. I'd be crushed if it was me and would want to rebuild as soon as possible, so Kathy, if you want to go that route, they're yours. Just PM or email me. If not, then I hope you can get some new chicks/hens/ or eggs you really want to start over again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. But how nice of others to send you eggs to replace your birds! What a great group here!

If it happened to me, I would live trap at night then euthenize the predator. I keep a live trap baited and ready almost all the time. It really helps. Good luck!

Hi again...
You people amaze me, you are the very best of the best. I've set a have a heart trap tonight and baited it with a can of the fishiest catfood I could find. I found someone with some leg hold traps, however, they are so rusty, they won't stay set. I'll WD-40 them tomorrow and see if that helps. I will definetly take those that have eggs to offer up on your offers and I will PM you with the details, cost, etc. I'm closing up every nook and cranny in the barn and have spoken with a gentlemen from fish & game. He believes it's a fox since they are littering now with the coyotes. He said the whole attack took only 5 minutes and to haul away that many hens, couldn't have been a weasel. He's offered to come over and investigate if it happens again and he said it'll happen again if there is a way in. I can't figure out how a fox cold have gotten all those chickens out of the barn, there is no hole big enough. It ate 8 babies and some full grown silkies, I can't find a full grown Rouen duck or a smaller one. I found 7 hens under the riding lawn mower that is stored under tarps in the barn. Of course, my roos are all fine and acting normally, mounting the last few hens almost constantly. Those poor girls are going to be sick of them shortly. The guy who gave me my first two hens last summer, gave us a pair of Rouen ducks. We watched them walk out of the cage, up the snow bank, around the barn and up the hill into the woods. Dinner for something I'm sure. Good grief.

I've got to get some sleep, thanks everyone for caring. I'll let you know what we catch.
God Bless you all!
