We have 6 layers and no roosters.
We have 1 astralorp, 2 barred rocks, and 3 anacaunas?.
We converted our Rainbow Swingset with castle into a chicken coop.
With roosting bar for sleeping inside the castle area. Which we lock them into at night.
And we have a shelf under the castle, where we placed 2 litter boxes filled with wheat straw and cedar chips for laying eggs.
Around the chicken coop we stapled iron cloth to enclose the chickens away from hawks, racoons, possums.
We took the chicken coop down and moved to the new house.

We just put up a fence around our yard.
We have left our chickens staying at our neighbors chicken coop.
We are putting the coop back together this weekend.
Then we will bring our chickens home.

Trying to make sure of the chicken regulations in Dekalb County.
Our yard is approx. 125x125ft. How many chickens can we raise.?
How far from neighbor's house does the chicken coop have to be?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. Regulations differ so you would need to approach your city council to get regs specific to your area.

Cedar is not good for chickens, so if you can get chips from another wood species, it would be better.

Good luck

The fumes from cedar can be toxic to chickens. It would be best to find out if chickens are legal in your new home before moving them all over. The town or village hall should have the information you need.
