Mystery chickens donated to us

Well, looks like the chickens answered the question for me as of 4:40am today. FOUR of them were crowing! I had to put them in their coop and lock the door before the neighbors woke up, but now I have to figure out what to do with them asap. I thought I would have more time.
1. Any ideas what to do with these guys? I had posted on FB and craigslist a few days ago to rehome one of them that I was pretty sure would be a rooster, but I haven't had any responses yet. And now I have 4! Yikes.
2. Stupid question, but does the age of the chicken start in the egg or once they are hatched? Since they hatched either last week of April or first week of May (the kids weren't sure and the teacher that gave them to us didn't tell me), it seems a little early for them to be crowing?
When they are hatched. I've had a Sebright cockerel who must have crowed at one month old!
For some reason the cockerels this year just aren't crowing though. :idunno

It all depends on the bird. I've seen vids of them crowing at less than a week...

I'd get an add up on the Buy/Sell/Trade threads down at the bottom of the main forum page... Make sure you include your location!

Well, it is difficult to know exactly with these birds, since no accurate age and no breed information either. Having to guess at too much stuff greatly reduces accuracy. But I am going to guess 10 to 12 weeks because they are just starting to crow.

And they are aged from the hatch date not the start of incubation. Seems like hackle and saddle feathers are only just starting to grow on some.

We have in the past created a velcro collar for the roos. It's a short term solution, but it makes them uncomfortable, and won't crow as often.

I hope they find a great new home, soon....
