I have been learning from a Call Duck breeder here and it's been exciting and interesting...He runs a Hatchery close to me...If you get the Appleyard pattern chances are they have Appleyard bantams in the genes so are not true Calls...At least that's what I have learned so far...I have been encouraged to breed my amazing little Silver Appleyard Drake to my white Call Hen Poppy and also to my Standard coloured Silver Appleyard Bantam Hen Blossom for next years hatches...I should end up with beautiful Ducklings....Also advised to breed my Chocolate Ancona Call Drake with the Silver Appleyard Hen I kept back because she is a lavender or pale and to also breed him with my Blue and the white hen too.....He actually is excited to see what I get from my breedings next spring...So much fun learning from someone with experience...Also around here people don't care if crosses or pure Bantams...They sell like hot cakes....
