Mystery wound (pictures) please help!

Breast blisters usually break, causing a scab to form. Over time the whole thing can form a small abscess. The key is finding out what is causing her to lie down and rub the breast area to make ther scab. Thanks for your help @Eggcessive - I really appreciate it With your help, I can be fairly certain she has MS. Oh my, I've heard antibiotics can control the symptoms - but I wouldn't know the first place to start in Australia (being new to the chicken game, I only have two as pets, I don't have any on hand). Poor thing By the time I did figure out what antibiotic to get her, I'm not sure she would make it anyway.

You can get Baytril injectable from a Vet in Australia....

If she survives another day it may be an idea to speak with a Vet that can prescribe some for her...

Tylosin or Tylan50 injectable is commonly used to treat mycoplasma (MS o MG) and the Baytril would probably be even better.

Update:

She made it through the night and was enjoying some rice and yoghurt this morning.

Thanks for all your recommendations guys We were able to go to the vet with the symptoms, presumed disease (MS) and recommended antibiotic - thanks to your information.

She has had some now, we are going to give some to my other chicken, then continue to treat them. Fingers crossed this helps her to make it through

For any wound on a chicken, turkey, goose or other fowl I've always used Vetericyn Hydrogel. You spray it on - no need to clean the wound so less stress for the bird. If you can do it 3 X a day until healed you will most likely be blown away at the success and speed of healing unless of course there is something else going on. It treats bacterial, viral, fungus, and everything in between. I am a die hard Vetericyn user for all my livestock and have never been disappointed with the results. If your local feed store or farm store doesn't carry it you can order it online on Amazon.com and get it pretty quickly. Good luck!
