Myth Busters, BYC style

Oh so are they seasonal layers? This is my first year with guineas, Decided to skip raising them as keets and buy them as adult. i've definitely bought a few too many hens though.. so i'm going to try and hatch some more this year and pray for some rooster.. Huh, I think that's the first time i've ever said that?
Yes, guineas don't lay year round.

Good idea. I should make a list. I have a coop partitioned in half but my chickens are August of last year chicks. So pretty much full grown. But maybe i could test it on guineas! Or quail...

My quail love their fermented feed and it makes them less stinky. I forgot to make it one evening not so long ago so the next day they had to have dry stuff. Needless to say they were not impressed. Mine have given up laying and are moulting like crazy.

I might try the fermented feed, I've got an order of 80 chicks coming may the 21st, I can separate half of them and feed them the fermented stuff, And feed the other half dry food..

It would be interesting to see if they develop differently. If one batch feathers out quicker or has an obviously cleaner brooder or something.

Terrific, that will be a great ! Can you weigh them to start and at intervals?

It'l be interesting how they'll do. If I like the fermented feed then I might switch over to it for my chicks..

I'll definitely weigh them when the first arrive and then separate, Might not be able to weigh all of them though? :gig I'll tag 10 of the chick i'll feed the fermented and 10 of the others that will be on dry feed, And see how they go along?
