Myth Busters, BYC style

I have no chickens or eggs, can I just voice my opinion ?
I tried the pointy egg experiment. sort of.
I got busy and couldn't follow through.
first you would have to mark H or R.
then watch which egg they hatch out of.
then keep them separated until you can tell for sure if they are H or R ..
I think it would be easiest to set just the pointy ones and see what happens..
I didn't have many pointy ones to set, and I ended up with about 50/50 H & R..
I have an opinion on F F .. I don't think it is worth the effort..
guineas are seasonal layers.

Roosters don't breed well until they feel the sun on their backs..
I think that means that they breed best in the warm months.

a good fan in the incubator does wonders with eliminating warm and cold spots.

I had a Jamesway 2000 egg incubator.
when I opened the door, the wind from the fan would blow my hair around..

Hi Jim, We welcome all opinions. Good to see you.

Thanks Misty! Just keep track of ideas to bust for now. I was going to suggest a card for each myth. Then ideas how to implement the bust and what would be needed in the way of supplies and animals.
:thumbsup:cool:another way to keep track is post # or when you suggest, so far you're doing amazing :frow

I might try the fermented feed, I've got an order of 80 chicks coming may the 21st, I can separate half of them and feed them the fermented stuff, And feed the other half dry food..
Ok, that is test #2. Be sure to keep us posted!

Okay, how about Corid (amprolium) treats all strains of coccidia? Where/how did that originate?
I don't think i have resources to look into that. Probably most folks figure if its good for coccidia, use it. Not thinking of which strain might be involved. Same as flu shots are not going to protect a person from all strains of flu.
More thinking of experiments that can be conducted and proven or disproven. Like whether you get more pullets if incubated at a warmer temperature.
