Myth or Fact???

Believe it or not one of my broiler breeder males got into it with a raccoon and came out on top. He weighs as much or more than the raccoon

Blimey...

He must be huge. What does he weigh?

I honestly can't see my ducks protecting anything...LOL

They sometimes lunge at the cat and aren't afraid of him, but a dog, raccoon, coyote, whatever...they would be snacks.

Having been chased by an angry goose, I CAN see one of them being used as a guard critter, but a big enough animal could still do them in.

Yeah. A single bobcat wiped out my flock of muscovies and Chinese geese in one night.

If anything, I think they would attract predators. Let's be honest.. waterfowl have a certain smell.. kinda musky, even on the cleanest duck/goose. Plus they're loud.

The raccoon is on the small side, at least by the tracks. The male broiler weighs 11.75 pounds ( I just wieghed him). I figure he has dropped some weight, he was larger than 12 lbs.
