Ok, we have two girls for two months now, both adopted after spending 2 years in a coop. They came with looooog nails, I think the bantam cochin's are 4 inches and I'm not kidding
They have a run now and are getting braver. So today DH held them in a towel and I clipped with the dog nail clippers. The bantam took about 5 minutes since I kept loosing her nails in the feathers, and the standard took about a minute and a half. Very easy. I didn't want any blood so just took off a little, I'll do more next week. At least they're tame, poor things
