Naked Neck - neck injury

This is what I found online
For a wound on the naked neck of a Silkie chicken, clean the area with a mild disinfectant solution (like a weak solution of Chlorohexidine 2%). Then, apply a wound ointment containing a topical antibiotic, such as Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic. If the wound is large, sutures may be needed, and consider using a wound spray like Vetericyn Plus. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Detailed Steps: [1, 1]
  1. Clean the Wound: After removing any visible debris or feathers, wash the wound area with a weak disinfectant solution like Chlorohexidine 2%. [1, 1]
  2. Apply Antibiotic Ointment: Apply a thin layer of a topical antibiotic ointment like Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic. [1, 3, 3]
  3. Suture if Necessary: If the wound is large and gaping, consult with a veterinarian about the need for stitches (sutures) to close the wound edges. [1, 1, 5]
  4. Consider Wound Spray: For added protection, you can also use a wound spray like Vetericyn Plus, which can help promote healing and prevent infection. [4, 4, 6, 7]
  5. Monitor for Infection: Watch for signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge. If infection develops, consult with a veterinarian for further treatment. [3, 3, 8, 8, 9]
  6. Prevent Further Injury: Keep the chicken away from other birds or potentially harmful environments to prevent further injury or irritation to the wound. [8, 8]
  7. Superglue: In some cases, if a flap of skin is involved, superglue can be used to help hold the flap in place, but this should be done with caution and under the guidance of a veterinarian. [10, 10, 11]

But I don’t know what you can use if you don’t have Chlorohexidine

She'll be ok! Just like SunnySky I had a horrible neck injury to a hen last spring..... 4 babies turned into roosters and mated the heck outta the poor thing. Only muscle was showing and I could pull the skin out and look Into her body. It was horrible! She lived my bathroom for a good 6 weeks. Every morning I held her neck under warm sink water to soften the tissue. Then I had to take tweezers and pull her skin out so I could reach down with the tweezers and take off the built up dead cells so it could heal. Then I would spray either Schreiners (love this stuff! My mom Swore by it with our horses injuries) or put some Blue on there and then some thick medicated ointment/protectant to keep it from drying out. My hen healed amazingly! Bird skin is just different than other animal skin. Now she has a partial naked neck herself but most of the feathers grew back. Pretty amazing animals!
Blue cote will keep the birds from pecking at any red. Maybe try it on her and see how they do.
You need a lot more hens for each male
