I have 1 turken, and decided this year to get me some more pullets and 1 roo. I figured that way I can start breeding them here and selling the babies. I love the turkens, they are just so loveable. Also our silver had a pearly white moon when it was a baby. Nothing at all like being mooned by a turken.
Jump right in! plan on having LOTS of fun and spending LOTS more money but do not, repeat...do not expect to make ANY money.
There are a couple of gals on this thread who breed fantastic looking NNs and I would love to have many of them and fully intend to at some point but as well entrenched as these folks are, I doubt they are making enough to pay for feed bills.
I'll mention you too Kev...I know you live in SoCal were folks will buy anything and pay far too much for it but I doubt you pay your limo driver with NN money...Heck..I make myself laugh.![]()

Alright then...you and your kids ave fun! At least your hatchery buildings should not leak!!!LOL, nope I live in North Carolina not California. I don't plan on breeding mine for money as much as to the fact that they are a rarity around our area. However I am sure the kids will enjoy them a lot. I know I do. However if I can sell the babies if I get any good breeding stock then I will or even eggs from them. My daughter enjoys showing birds at the local fair. As for me being rich heck no. I am not rich, even though you would think we were more poor then the welfare folks around our area because we don't drive fancy new cars. But we do own our own roofing business, as well as our own Hatchery here. I have health issues, and I enjoy working with the chickens. To me its the most relaxing thing out there to do.
