I've got some green egg genetics in my "genetic soup" so I am impatiently waiting to see if I have any green layers.

A few pics from today

Love the mottling on this girl, thought she was a boy for a long time when she was tiny b/c she was always "in your business"

Love the fm in this girl, wish she was NaNa though

Anybody else here the theme song to Jaws when they see this pic????

Talk to the Butt!!!!!

This guy showed up out of the blue, there were 3 to start, but the other two disappeared.
Oh my gosh, are they supposed to have no feathers? I have never seen this breed before. Pretty wild!

Yes, Rudy naturally has no feathers. He is a NN, but he is featherless b/c he has other genetics, not b/c of the NN genetics. Rudy is scaleless, no leg scales, no feather follicles.

Nothing to do with scaleless but In my 'care package' of 25 young NN hens, I received two black ones that have large patches of black skin. Three black hens all together...we call them the 'Pointer Sisters' because they are always seem to hang together. They are laying very nice, large eggs too. They are all on the short list to be drafted into the 'Main Project', for the reasons mentioned and, while they have single combs, their combs are all quite small.

I know this my sound depraved or worse but I hope you get pics or better yet, video of Rudy doing his mating ritual when the time comes. That would have to be something to watch.
