Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I believe it's been made pretty clear on other threads that discussing a third person's stock, with respect to quality, is seriously frowned upon. I suppose if Mr. Urch were to be party to the discourse, it might be ok....

Just a little heads-up.

If you're a knitter here's a free pattern for a chicken sweater - http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=414

I'm late on this, but it has to be the cutest little vest ever.

Here was my big buy for today at the local auction. A quad of Naked Necks.

1st hen: Mostly blue with a little gold on head, bow tie and chest area. Blue Copper?

2nd hen. Golden Laced not the best of the lacing pattern perhaps a 1st generation golden laced cross. Has a small rose comb.

3rd hen. Mostly white hen but does have a few black (light) spots on body ans in tail feathers. I think I'd be safe in calling her white.

Showing some of the black spots.

Last the rooster, Red on head and in the bowtie and over most of the back and saddle area with a little on the wing. Blue Copper?

Showing some of the roosters back and saddle feathers.

What do you folks think about the color names that I've suggested? Mostly curious if I'm even close.

Maybe the white one is a splash???

If you don't mind my asking, how much do the Turkens go for at the auction?

I'm about 90% sure at this point that I'm going to keep my Turken cockerel and let him have some chicks in the spring. I'd like to get a couple of hens out of him..maybe an olive egger or a chocolate if I cross him with my Marans hens.

Maybe, could be, I've never seen splash that white before. Usually has a bluish tint to it. I'm thinking more along the lines of dominant ( or is it recessive white) that cause the black spots on cross colors. I seem to forget which white causes this.

These I paid $5.00 each. Funny thing is there were some (11) babies between 2 & 4 weeks old that went for between $7.00 & $9.00 each.
Usually NN go a lot higher.
