Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Haha, I don't name most of the birds but the first scaleless got names because they are so special.... okay, just because I love them... ;) Precious, a little older: Isn't she just so Precious?! Golem(black one), Dilo (after Dilophosaurus- a double crested dino, the "spitter" in Jurassic Park. He has a double comb) and Ivar the Scaleless Ivar, Dilo and Golem:
I realy like your birds and sccaless chickens, but my family would pass away if I'd bring them home.

Washington sucks most of the time. You spend 9 - 10 months of the year in misery suffering through cold, wet, wind, dark, gray gloomy skies, frozen, swampy, etc. Then spring comes around May (about now) and you think "wow, this is the most beautiful place on earth." That notion is tainted by the previous 9 months of misery one endured. When I sell the house and get a new job it will be some place warmer.

Wow. So it's okay if I take WA off my travel list..?

It's okay here most of the time, except the summers... which are from April/May until September, even into October some years.. it gets HOT. It's been 100 degrees yesterday and today and you can expect 110-120F July thru September. I get used to it but 110+ bothers even me..

When I encounter someone complaining about the 90-100 degree weather, I sometimes very casually invite them over to my place..... it's usually past 110 during those times....

The drawback is, 70 degrees feels very cold to me and 60 is downright freezing.

I'm doing a good job selling the location huh? ;)

Ah yeah, poor thing but it is a good thing she did not go to waste.  Hope some of the chicks are hers.

I don't know why but she wasn't so big when she was younger. She started to grow last two years. I wonder if she would grow even more.

I also hope that some of the chicks are hers because she was very good layer and she was laying big eggs when she was younger and she was beautiful. Some kind of partrige color but very dark brown. Like dark chocolate.

For some, that would be a good thing..............

Or, you could just tell them you're bringing new naked necks...  Not exactly a lie- their necks are featherless, so.........

Hahahahaha, there is only one problem. I don't know anyone here that has sccaless chickens.

I also think that my parents wouldn't be happy if I'd bring any chickens in without asking them. Not saying that I am going to get new chicks but ask them.

Could the color have been what's called Dark Brown here... as in dark brown leghorns?

I can't remember the name used on the continent for this color...

They are pretty hard to find for sure. I had to wait about 30 years, after seeing them on the local news. Then the only sources I'm aware of nearly lost their breeding stock- first to raccoons, the second to a probable dog attack. Man I was so worried the chance to get some had totally vanished....

It isn't any standard color. She was a mix but I know that her mother is black naked neck with brown head and father was wheaten nn. She was like chocolate color with some kind of partridge in it.
