Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Looks as if my little NN for the hardware store is a rooster because although it has not crowed yet the comb and wattles are bright pink. Its pretty thought with pale yellow areas inbetween white with black dots. I'll try for a better picture when the gale force winds die down.

Don't toss her out to the bachelor's quarters yet! She can still pick up her head. Poor Oakley had a big ole comb to balance when he was still skin and fluff. All the girls have combs and with the flushing faces, it can be confusing at time. Annie Green Legs (Yes my NN are Oakley and his Annies) had me guessing until she was 16 weeks and Oakley had his saddle feathers. I really should get some good pictures on here.

Haven't figured out how chickens know what a camera is and get so goofy when it comes out.

hey thanks for the encouragement. I guess that I do not have enough experience with NN. As soon as one week I have a batch due to pip and pop out but so far just this little one from the hardware store since I could not wait. Your language is colorful ! Can't wait to see pictures of Oakley and his Annies

This is a pix of my rooster. Ironically, ca has one that is almost identical!
I got him at the flea market along with his brother for $5.
They were supposed to be pullets! Go figure. He is 10 months old.
Spikes are just starting to get BIG.

This winter in South Texas was exceptionally cold. 3 mornings when the temperature
was 8-10 degrees. The poor guy got frostbite on his comb and wattles. His comb and
wattles were all black.

I felt sorry for him because he has icicles hanging all over his face from drinking.
All the points on his comb just dried up and fell off.

He's doing fine and just got out of lock down with 4 hens. 28 eggs are in the
incubator, along with 14 eggs I got from Nava. April 17 is going to be a busy day.

this is my Kevin a few weeks ago. She's extra luxurious now but I don't know what her specific type is, the sign at the hardware store just said "naked neck turken".
i have to find some of the frizzy ones next time around though because they are the cutest things I've ever seen.
