DH and I will get in the car trusting someone else's directions. Some people just give horrible directions. We end up on a road with no clue where we are, but then there we are, right were we were supposed to be.
Washington loves to put round-a-bouts all over the place. On the way to my cousin's house there is a round-a-bout where all the streets coming off of it are called "Henderson". (At least that is what the signs say, I'm pretty sure they are just trying to confuse people). Some how I always manage to choose the correct Henderson. My mom refuses to drive there since she'd get lost for sure.
My NN pullets are all laying now, and I have an olive egger! She is the only one with a pea comb (although it is a modified pea comb) and she is also the only one that is birchen instead of black copper (not sure if there is a relationship). Her first couple of eggs were lighter and then got darker after a few test runs. I'm loving my girls' eggs!
Left to right:
First two eggs, Eggs # 3 & 4, her mom's eggs (black copper marans), and eggs from her sisters.
I'm finding chicken math is getting the best of me. I only want green and dark brown layers at this point, but I have WAY too many light brown and tinted egg layers. I suppose I can still sell them for eating and just hatch the pretty ones.

I am a paramedic that works in a rural area, I can sympathize about bad directions!!!! It always surprises me how many adult, functioning human beings cannot tell you how to get to where they live, and have lived for years. Or how many people feel compelled to tell you the house color for identification at 2 am w/o any street lights.

See, I'm just the opposite. Not only do I give directions saying "turn right on such and such street..." but I also throw in things like "you'll be heading south at that point", give them landmark details and also tell them how far they'll need to come before reaching my dirt driveway (3.4 miles from the end of the road). Yet no matter how specific my directions, I still see people drive right by my place. Then I have to walk the 3/4 mile to the end of my driveway and wait for them to come back my way so I can guide them to my house. Their response is always the same...."The directions were good but I just didn't think that was your driveway...."

Nice eggs! birchen has nothing to do with egg color, just coincidence. Doing the same kind of chicken math here lol.. waiting on maybe 15 potential colored egger pullets to lay. Then cull off all the tinted eggers.

Oh man, so it;s not just me?! For some reason, most GPS and various map software show a wrong location for my address, a half mile south of me with no direct connection.
Yet despite emphasizing that and giving very detailed directions- how many miles/streets/name of streets, even with a particular street being the ONLY cross street that goes to my place, plus main landmarks and telling I am on corner of this and this street...... well over half the time they simply put in the address and end up contacting me either accusing me of giving wrong address or completely lost over by the wrong location given by their GPS or whatever... Then I either have to repeat all the directions all over again from where they are or have to drive out there and have them follow me.... it's truly amazing how often this happens.. it's so bad that many times I've simply refused to give the address, only the directions... they get lost FAR less often this way.
Oh I hate roundabouts! for whatever mysterious reason, they put one right in a parking lot of a outlet type shopping center..... there are not any around for miles so there are quite a lot of first timers being awkward about it.
I didn't get any pictures of mine today, for their 8 week pictures.
Finally landed a job and today us my only day off this week and have lots of running around to do.
Took a few minutes to check the leg ties and make sure they weren't too tight. When I take picture it takes about an hour and a half to get them all done. I'm finishing up lunch right now and going to head out to a doctors appointment.
My little ones are 9 weeks old today, but I had to swap out their leg bands today, and after that, we were all to tired to take weights. But they DID get to roam outside their tractor for the first time today (finally!!!) - a fenced area (best I could do for something mobile). I got some nice photos. I have 6 NN pullets and 7 NN cockerels - making notes on which ones I will keep. I will at least TRY to keep several cockerels, but can't really keep all 7. (Maybe 3-4?) I'll plan to keep all pullets, I think, though there is one that is significantly petite and not terribly friendly that may not make the cut. BTW, the all black pullet? I was wrong - she's not the smallest, she's second largest of the pullets. So, PHOTOS!!! (I hope it is ok to post all these - I adore it when others do, so I'm assuming it's fun for everyone else as well...)
Dispersing from the tractor:
Tons of space and they have to fight over the same square foot of dust bath space - crazy chickens! I can't tell who's head is whose...:
Partridge - I think this is a pullet, and if so, she is the largest of them by far. She has an interesting mahogany hairdo...:
The black pullet was being a photo hog when I was trying to get photos of that dark wheaten one:
Here she is on her own:
Here is the black one with the Rose comb (I think male) - if you look at his wings when spread, he has a few tiny white accents. He's a little bit of a jerk with the others - he's big, but he may not make the cut. We'll see. (One of the black-downed males with red accents in the background perching in the doorway.)
And here's Tank (and a cute photo of him with the black pullet...):
Love my Naked Necks! You know skip the S&G idea, I like these Ideal ones.
