Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I haven't had a girl scsc long enough to know if she will go broody, Phyllis hasn't even started laying yet.  Precious (kev's girl) laid later then most I believe, but he never said she went broody so don't believe she ever did either.  I would imagine since it is hormonal it is possible for her to go broody, she would only be able to cover a few eggs at most and I doubt she could adequately keep chicks warm w/o wing feathers.

That would be weird sight. But I agree that there is no way she could keep the chicks warm. It would be a great thing to see and try.

Still around. Just haven't been on much the last week or do. Just a tad busy.

Got the new chicks and their still doing good, haven't lost any so far. I was dreading it after this cold front has come through but obviously they keep warm enough, it took them ( 32 ) a week lacking one day being a week to clean a tray of chick feed. That had me worried, never had any that took so long starting to eat.

I have a question for @Kassaundra and anyone else who has scsc chickens ( I know that there is somebody else, but I can't remember who)

Will scsc hens try to go broody?!? ( I guess they will, especially from a flock that has a lot of broodies- like you have), but would that work?!?

I saw a picture of Q-tip with a naked chick and thought of it

Yes they can go broody.

Not naked necks, but we've got 4 indoors... 3 penned up for breeding, 1 who thinks he is a human so he just runs around. But we're cheats, they're all Serama so it's more like having a shrill yapping dog that only goes off sometimes ;)
