Naked Neck/Turken Thread

They were 6 weeks old Friday 2/25/2016.
I'm not doubting the sex of that bottom photo, he's coloring up just like a cockerel.
I'm just debating with myself about sheathed to keep him or not.

he has nice colours. does he have a blue egg gene as well? I hope you will keep him.

I actually stopped have shrink wrapping problems when I lowered the humidity for my hatches to 45% for the majority of the time, and then increasing to 65-75% after lockdown. It was suggested to me that the chicks were unable to absorb all of the liquid at higher humidity during development, which also kept the membrane too wet. Have you tried drier hatches?

Yes, the time I mentioned having condensation in the incubator, was a "dry" incubation then at lock down I upped the humiditiy to the point of condensation inside the incubator, still had shrink wrapping.

Hi Kassaundra I think this time I'm going lower yet on the humidity as I kept it lower last time and did better. Still at 45-50 for first 18

Also notice some of the ones I helped died. The hatch before last I had a small chick that I assisted it would walk side ways with its wing down. These eggs were from a friend so I thought something wrong with her eggs. For the NY Hal I had shipped eggs and again I assisted a smaller chick. It too had the same walk and wing the other had. Now I'm thinking my incubator is/has some virus so I'm going out this afternoon to thouroughly sanitize every square inch. This for the Easter Hal. I'm also going to add fans to coolerbator in case there's a cool spot.

I'm hoping for a much better hatch this time. Assisting isn't fun.

Cross posting from the Calico/aloha NN thread:

The Aloha NN babies had their one week weighing and got banded today (I think they hate me, hope they get over it). Got photos of everyone:

So cute! Don't you love it when they poop just in time for you to take the photo. LOL!

Cuteness!!!! I think my favorite so far is the last one.

Thanks! They're all so cute, that one looks a lot like Puppy did as a baby. It was the first to hatch.
Quote: That's EXACTLY what happened - I'm surprised I didn't catch it in mid air on camera!

Their weights so far are a lot lighter than the Ideal NNs, but the Aloha chickens are known to be smaller, so I knew there might be some size challenges with these...
