Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Some toddler pics from today Beautimous has the darker head, these both are pea comb feather pattern (I also think NN) they are the least feathered except for Blondie of course. Blondie (the scaleless) and Me too. Me too was the weakest hardest hatch that has ever survived for me. (and the only grey chick) The one in the front is going to have one of the "odd" combs that are in my lines The NN in these pics had the biggest and most defined chipmunk stripes These guys kept standing to close. The darker one has those few white wing feathers, white butt fuzz, and the goatee is white.
Love the last, black one. She is going to be beautiful. So does she have mottle or just white tips of the wings? Do you think that Blondie is going to (almost wrote feather out), change her color just like Rudy did?

Hi! I just hatched my first chicks with a mix of Eggs from My Pet Chicken, and what do you know, two of them are NNs! I wouldn't have thought I would but I just love them! They are so laid back and sweet!
Not sure what their crosses are, I think one is a Cochin cross and the other is a frizzeled something

I can't wait to learn more about these funny creatures!

beautiful chicks, everyone! I can't wait to see if mine will hatch.

It will depend if she is a girl or boy. If she is a boy she will likely lighten as he matures. She was very light at hatch, I didn't realize she was fm until the day after hatch. Fm chicks usually hatch already dark skinned so not sure what caused that.

Is your current scaleless boy dark skinned?

First one out is a NN, although it had a giant bib.
This one is a sex link cross if red over silver. I think this one may have been a cockerel, but I'll have to see if more hatch to compare the colors to make sure.
Hatched on day 19 and 1/2.

I love these baby photos!

Here are some of mine from today - three of the Aloha NN boys (4.5 weeks old) that got to the top level on their own today, and decided to watch over everyone for a while (I love their exact spacing):

In other news, Snape is being a bit of a forceful jerk with his girls - I think it must be because it's spring. I need to make a whole bunch of little chicken aprons...

What will the aprons do and what are they? My rooster isn't too rough with the ladies once he gets them down but my my he is very creative and crafty at cornering them. There is definitely things that are different with this breed or gene carrying chickens.

The jerk part is chasing/cornering. During the actual act, the problem is that he's so big (I haven't weighed him in a while, but I think he's 8 or 9 pounds, most of the girls are 4-5lbs). They've been slowly losing feathers on their backs, and there's an occasional minor wound, though not recently - I check them frequently for injury. The aprons will help protect their back, and allow regrowing feathers a chance...

Edit to add: I think the reason they've started avoiding him/protesting is because he IS so big...
