She acts like it too. Duckie is a real diva. Even when laying eggs she luxuriates in the nesting box, taking her time and only allows her absolute favorite rooster to mount her. That's why her feathers still look so good while the rest of my girls look tattered and torn. And when treats are being handed out, she pushes EVERYONE out of the way to get her share first. She's never mean, but nobody bosses Duckie around.

I'll try to get pictures if all the new ones on Sunday. Tomorrow if I'm not too late getting home.

Got a total of 61 that I pulled from the incubator late this afternoon. A few still trying to hatch.

I've finally figured out where the the feathered legs are coming from in my NN's.

It is from my Silver hen. I hatched egg eggs from a maymng to the Red Mottled NN rooster. Those babies were sex linked. 5 cockerels and 3 pullets. The boys inherited the feathered legs. So my guess is that the cockerel from the September hatch that had feathered legs.

@Kev is this something that can passed from the mother to only a son? The hen herself doesn't have feathered legs.

Very apt for Grace, she is so above those beastly boys and look at her graceful royalblood pose in the second picture..

afaik no sex linked leg feathering... it however is a pain to get rid of because there are several different genes, some are recessive and it varies a lot- very easy for it to 'sneak' down the generations.
