Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Yep! This is precisely why I plan to buy eggs from @Beer can
 in the spring. Not only do I love his big birds, but I love those white feathers too! And hey...if I'm going to have my life run by chicken math I may as well add another breed in the process.

Well if you don't get some other breeds at the sam time as you get giants, you will just have to do the whole trip again in a few weeks/months because you will probably change your mind..

glad to see this thread is active again. my pc got broken and I lost the software for my camera and my cell phone is old and I could not connect it even before the pc broke. no pic from me at the moment. I wish I could send you some eggs as the NNs here are heavier than I want them to be. I saw pure NNs imported from romania and they are big too.
I'd love some of them big NN's from wherever. I like the big ones!

Love them! Beautiful. I especially like the Blacks, one of my projects is make make some good blacks. My main problem is getting a good black cockerel. Oh week time and patience I guess. On the Buffs I live those with tails. Speaking of tails, I've managed to hatch out a Black Tailed White.

I don't know how easy it'd be to make variety of these. I know the rooster she's from but not sure if the mom.

I'd love to hear about a Barbezieux x Jersey cross, just a big ol' jumbo bird. :P

It's always such a wealth of information in this thread! I can't wait to contribute with NNs of my own, when I picked up my poults about two weeks ago we noticed the Homesteaders had some very cute, decent sized NNs with nice color variety, we figured we'd rather support local farmers and we at least knew the stock, so we're having theem hatch out a dozen chicks for us, they should be hatching around Halloween. We're stoked.

I love hearing about people "buying local", especially for their chickens. Feed stores and hatcheries just don't know their birds like homesteaders and farmers do, not to mention the love that goes into growing and caring for them on a smaller scale. I recently sold 2 laying hens and 1 laying pullet to a good friend of mine and was able to tell her everything about the parentage, when they reached point of lay, how big their eggs are and how frequently they lay, how much longer she can expect them to lay, what color the eggs are, what their personalities are like..... And when I sell chicks it's the same way. You just can't get that kind of info from mail-order.

@Nava Your birds are GORGEOUS!!!!

And where did you get that adorable "tree" nesting box? I'd love to have a few of those around my place.
